Points of Interest

1. Hargreaves Mall

Hargreaves Mall is the business and pedestrian centre of Bendigo. Much consideration was given to making a walkable environment in its recent re-design. Click the link for more info and photos.

2. Hargreaves St at Bull St

This shared space has been created, with traffic speeds lowered, so that walkers, cyclists and drivers can safely co-exist, without the need to ban cars altogether.

3. Crossing Pall Mall at Bull Street

Many people cross Pall Mall (Midland Hwy) at Bull Street, that is not a marked pedestrian crossing. This is a busy street and there are lighted cross walks within one block.

4. Rosalind Park Historical Points

There are many historical points in the Park, which was the site of the Red Ribbon Rebellion in of 1853, which led to the Eureka Stockade uprising in Ballarat. There are several markers, though old.

5. Fenced Pond

Many of the students felt the fenced pond is not an asset to the area and has a lot of potential to be more appealing.

6. Fenced Pond Litter

Several students were concerned that the fenced pond area seemed to be where people put litter.

7. Barnard St entrance to Rosalind Park

Many walkers access the path to the park and schools from Barnard St. This is a good safe crosswalk.

8. Alternative route via tennis courts

Many walkers, especially students, cross through the Bowls or Tennis Clubs to access the schools. There are a few hazards along the way, including some uneven surfaces, such as this one.

9. Walking path along Barnard St.

The path along Barnard St is quite good for walking. It has good width and is maintained well.

10. Crossing Barnard St at the Aquatic Centre

This popular crossing point does not have pedestrian priority or a crosswalk signal.

11. Roundabout at View St/ Gaol Rd

This roundabout is heavily trafficked with no pedestrian crosswalk. It is the main access point to the parking areas of Rosalind Park.

12. Footpath ends

Those entering the Park or Oval via Gaol Rd from View St meet an abrupt end to the footpath.

13. Pedestrian Pathway

Parallel to Gaol Rd is a good pedestrian pathway allowing for access to the schools and Oval via Gaol Rd.

14. Rosalind Park
