Summary

Description

Although the neighbourhood has had a dark reputation, the area around both rival schools in the shape of Tyndale Christian School and Salisbury East High School, provides excellent areas and schedules in terms of bus stops and parking lots for students during the week to find a quick and effective way home. But the neighbourhood doesn't only provide excellent advantages for students after school hours. The area is always highly populated on weekend activities. For Example, Davey Oval hosts numerous sporting activities on the weekends, as the home ground for Elizabeth & Districts division powerhouses, Salisbury East Soccer Club (SESC) in which holds countless amounts of young talents and coaches, which all the more demonstrates the quality of the community around the area.

Points of Interest

1. Bus Stop

This Bus Stop provides a clean, large area in case a bus is a fair distance away. It is extremely effective and necessary in terms of students finding a useful way home to their families and friends.

2. Littering

As a boy who has walked in this area more than once, I find it very disappointing to locate littering under nearby homes' plants and gates, just another reason for this community to improve.

3. Small Foot Path

the path is tiny! Path can only hold a person and a half in a single file, it is also unable to hold a pram or a wheelchair and to make matters worse, the other side doesn't even have a footpath!

4. Missing Footpath

The footpath on this side of the street isn't small, isn't poorly laid, but its not even there, there is no footpath for about 25 metres with weeds going along all of the lawns of homes.

5. Damaged Footpath

This Footpath doesn't fail to disappoint... Literally. This footpath is missing a brick, making it so much more difficult for disability needs and the general everyday jogger.

6. Community Conveniences

The shopping centre isn't all that the area provides in terms of needs. Outside of the parking lot, there is a well placed and convenient Telephone Booth adjacent to a postage box.

7. Damaged Footpath

What A Surprise! Another hazardous footpath which demonstrates an enormous danger not only to people, but also to tyres and wheels of wheelchairs/prams.

8. Local Shopping Centre

Although the shopping centre is not significantly large, the area adjacent to the intersection of Gloucester Avenue and Balmoral Road provides a Delhi, a chemist and a hairdressing salon.

9. Speed Limit sign

Right now you're thinking "its just a speed limit sign!" but in fact, this sign saves lives everyday, considering the immaturity of certain drivers in the community.

10. Hazardous street curb

The curb just outside of the Tyndale perimeter is simply missing, as its right next o a ramp onto the road, I am shocked that no repairs or injuries have been resulted.

11. Damaged Curb

Although not as significant as the previous hazard, the damage on this curb is still a major problem that has to be repaired by the government.

12. Drain

The drain just west of Smith Road has absolutely nothing wrong with it. No tripping obstacles, no signs of graffiti and no signs of cracks or disability in doing its job. It is a normal drain.

13. Littering (in drain)

The positive vibes found outside of the drain were cut short when we managed to locate used spray cans on the curb of Gloucester Avenue inside of a drain. It is quite unfortunate to see.

14. Davey Oval

Davey Oval, home of Elizabeth & Districts giants Salisbury East Soccer club (SESC) of which provides plenty of young talent in terms of skills. This demonstrates the character of the neighbourhood.

15. Garbage Bin

Considering there is a local canteen inside of Davey Oval, it is very convenient to locate a garbage bin just to the far side of the Under 6/8 soccer pitch, the area is often free of littering.

16. Bus Stop

The primary bus stop just outside of Salisbury East High School is convenient as it is useful to children finding a safe and easy way home from school if parents are unavailable at the time.

17. bus stop

The Bus stop just outside of Salisbury East School is equally as good as the primary bus stop but less convenient and quite frustrating when it comes to crossing the road during peak-hour traffic.

18. Intersection

The intersection just around the heart of Smith Road, the intersection's 'zebra crossings' provide reliable crossings onto each of the corners of the intersection. Still with no accident in years.

19. Littering

Some rubbish dumped outside of the house? Yup. Littering located just outside of a home when there is literally a bin about 2 steps away from where the rubbish was chucked. Just put it in the bin!

20. Street Lights and Power Lines

Thanks to the countless amounts of street lights on Salisbury highway, Smith road offers maximum safety and vision when late at night or in the event of foggy mornings walking to school.
