Note: See this updated advice (May 2020) from the Victoria Government regarding recreational walking at popular sites such as the You Yangs in light of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Park at the Branch Road Entrance Carpark and follow the signs to Big Rock. The wide gravel track will lead you through the bush on a slight incline. You will end up at Big Rock where you will find large boulders to climb on and lots of cubbies other children (and adults!) have made.
There is a big area for kicking the ball around or playing cricket and there are two woodfired BBQs perfect for toasting marshmallows!
This is a one- way track. You will need to either walk back to the car OR organise a way to be picked up at the Big Rock car park. There are toilets at this car park. The track is suitable for a pram, however, there are small steps along the way (which would be easy to navigate with a pram).
Easy walking for little kids
Be aware that the track does cross over a road here. It is rare to come across traffic but kids need to be warned before approaching this intersection.
You can take dogs to the You Yangs if they remain on the lead. Ranger regularly patrol to ensure rules are followed.
A great place for a sausage sizzle or just to toast marshmallows for the kids!
come and play in the cubbies that other people have made or come and make your own
These boulders are great fun for kids to climb, explore and use their imaginations.
A great place to explore , climb and learn
