From Altona station along Altona beach to 100 Steps of Federation
Catch a train to Altona on the Werribee line. Walk from Altona station through the Pier St shopping centre to the corner of the Esplanade where the R J Logan Reserve sits. Explore Altona Homestead here (Queen St side). Turn right (west) into the Esplanade at the Altona pier and walk along the foreshore, past G H Ransom Reserve to the end of the beach at Apex Park. Continue along the path through D K Grant Reserve and follow the Laverton Creek, crossing the footbridge near the Truganina Explosives Reserve. The path continues west into Truganina Park. Climb the 100 Steps of Federation for a 360-degree view of the bay, city and Cheetham Wetlands.
