Take a stroll along the Moonee Ponds Creek path to Ron Barassi Snr Park, Docklands
Take a stroll along the Moonee Ponds Creek path from Harbour Esplanade (just behind Costco) and past the back of the Docklands Studios. Observe the birdlife including swans, silver gulls and maybe the stray heron. Continue along the path until you are right under the Bolte Bridge. There are great views here towards the city and along the Yarra River.
This is where the Ron Barassi Snr Park sits. It was opened in October 2015 and is named after Ronald James Barassi Snr, who played with the Melbourne Football Club from 1936 to 1940. There is a great children’s playground, clubrooms and oval just waiting for visitors to use the facilities.
If you need more to do the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel is not far away and is good for spectacular views of the surrounds. Stop for lunch in Harbour Town, which is also great for shopping bargains.
