The walk has been developed in partnership with VCAL students from Nelson Bay College Geelong and the City of Greater Geelong. The walk is designed to not only take in the beautiful bay environment but to bring you into the moment by practicing Mindfulness techniques along the way.
The walk begins at the Corio Bay Sailing Club Limeburners Bay and is a 3 km loop towards Viva Energy and back. Limeburners Bay is a special spot that lies between Hovells Creek and Corio Bay. It is home to many native plants and animals. It is a favoured feeding, roosting and resting habitat for a wide range of water and wading birds.
Along the track, six pause spots are marked and they take walkers through a mindfulness technique.
Mindfulness is about being in the moment. The techniques help you let go of your stresses, worries and problems and just let you be.
We also respect the traditional owners of the land the Wadawurrung clan with these words
'We must always remember that this land is, was and will always be the Wadawurrung Peoples traditional land.
There are now five Knowing Your Place 3214 Neighbourhood Walks that connect to the Karndoor-kapa (Wadawurrung, meaning follow the Norlane Corio Track) cycle track that surrounds the two suburbs of 3214 - Norlane and Corio.
