A circular walk along Eel Hole Creek and skirting the university grounds. A brisk 21 minute lunch- break walk, or a leisurely 45 minute walk waking wallabies!

Churchill is a beautiful spot, and this walk demonstrates it. Not a minute from the shopping centre a wonderful walk is waiting.
The track we follow is part of an extensive land regeneration partnership between Monash University (the university is now Federation University), Latrobe City Council and the West Gippsland Water Catchment Authority that has opened up this beautiful area to walkers and cyclists to enjoy.
Hopefully, your presence will wake a wallaby in the grounds of the university. If not, identify the different bird calls you will hear as you walk.
This route is taken by the Wallaby Walkers every Wednesday. Meeting at Churchill Hub at 9.30am, parents and carers with strollers take a brisk walk to build fitness and friends.
On return to the Hub, children hop out and munch on a freshly baked healthy and tasty morning tea ($1 optional). Then they can listen to a great story at Story time in the Library at 10.30am.

The walk starts at the Churchill Hub. There is plenty of parking here but observe the parking signs. Head East towards the University, crossing the bridge over Eel Hole Creek and then turn right.
Cross the footbridge, and then stroll South along the walking track on the banks of Eel Hole Creek. A woozy wallaby may be returning home after a night out! Listen for all the different bird calls.
The roundabout is ahead. Cross the road and go left. Careful: there is no lowered kerb for prams and wheelchairs here, or direct path across the road. Don't be put off - you are half way!
Now, follow the footpath North along the road, towards the University. Surprisingly, although you are walking next to a sealed road, the town seems to meet the countryside here.
Cross Lawless Road then cross Northways Road and follow the path into the park. The buildings scattered to your right are residential units for Federation University students.
You'll pass the Mungo Moon sculpture by Don Barrett, and will meet the Eel Hole Creek path again soon. Turn right and retrace your steps to your starting point: the Churchill Hub
