Summary

Hobsons Bay City Council, Toyota Australia, the Victorian Government and Friends of Lower Kororoit Creek proudly opened the first major section of the Lower Kororoit Creek Trail in July 2017.

Description

Find out more

This section of the trail features an impressive series of three metre high public artworks entitled ‘Spirits of Time and Place’ created by Brooklyn artist Geoffrey Ricardo and will provide a much needed community and recreation space, bringing the community one step closer to the completion of the entire lower section of the Kororoit Creek Trail. This creek artery of natural significance used to be derelict industrial land, but thanks to the work of hundreds of community members over many years led by Friends of Lower Kororoit Creek, it has been transformed into a bushland oasis right on our doorstep that is home to a vast array of rare birds and wildlife. Not only will this section of trail open one of the ‘hidden gems’ in Melbourne’s West to the public, it is an important strategic piece of the puzzle that will connect to the broader cycling network of greater Melbourne.

The section beyond Grieve Parade is not finished yet and is rough gravel, steep in one part before the Westgate Freeway. It ends at a bluestone bridge before Geelong Rd (Princes Hwy).
