Description

Find out more

This is a beautiful walk popular with locals, particularly dog owners, horse riders and mountain bike riders because Mathias Road (now track) is closed to vehicles.

* Parts of Mathias Track border the Dandenong Ranges National Park - in which dogs are strictly not allowed. For this reason, dogs must be kept on-leash at all times. Please inform other dog owners of this if you see their dogs off leash. Refer to map (final photo on map).
There are small car parking areas at both the Silvan Road entry and Falls Road entries to Mathias track. We've opted to start this walk at the Silvan Road end, because it is a little quieter and because the Arboretum affords some beautiful scenery, particularly in Autumn months.

Please note that whille the track is quite well-made, it is not sealed and can become muddy after rain.

DOGS: Dog owners please note that this is a popular walk but dogs are only permitted on-lead. We have another Mathias Track walk that detours to the Old Olinda Golf Course, a popular place which features a medium-sized off-leash area.
