Summary

Participate in a self-guided walk from Werribee Library, looping around Wyndham Park, in support of "Walk Against Family Violence" during the 16 Days of Activism Campaign (25 Nov - 10 Dec)

Description

Join people across Victoria to raise awareness and walk in solidarity with victim-survivors of family violence and violence against women through a local self guided walk that starts or concludes at the Werribee Library where information and resources are available for the 16 Days of Activism Campaign that focuses on prevention of gender-based violence. Organise a group walk, wear orange and share a photo from your walk using #WAFV2022, #WhyWeWalk and #WAFV hashtags on social media.

This route follows concrete paths around the park, dogs remain on lead.

Start: From the library, take care by crossing the pedestrian crossings over to Wyndham Street Piazza then head towards the bridge. As you cross the bridge take a moment to look over both sides to see the park. At the other side follow the path to the left, keeping to the top side of the park, you will pass exercise equipment on your right then an exciting children's playspace on your left, later peak through and see Wyndham's newest destination skatepark to the right under the road bridge.

Reaching the far corner, follow the path around to your left and down the hill, on the right you will see more exercise equipment, head towards the central oval green space and follow the path around to the right and then under the bridge. Choose the right hand path to take you up a walkway and around the top of the other side of the park, where you can spy views of the river to your right and another playground to your left, BBQs and space to rest. Following around the loop you will make your way back to the bridge, with public toilets available on the right. Cross back over the bridge taking another glimpse of the mix of native trees and cleverly designed park scenery, once back at the Piazza cross carefully back to the start. Werribee Library is nearby.

End your walk by visiting Werribee Library and viewing the 16 days of Activism / Respect Is materials and books. Mention participating in this walk to staff and / or take a photo in front of the campaign stand to upload to social media.
