Summary

Participate in a self-guided walk in Tarneit, running alongside Skeleton Creek, in support of "Walk Against Family Violence" during the 16 Days of Activism Campaign (25 Nov - 10 Dec 2021).

Description

Join people across Victoria to raise awareness and walk in solidarity with victim-survivors of family violence and violence against women through a local self-guided walk.

The walk starts and finishes at the Tarneit Community Learning Centre/Library where information and resources are available for the 16 Days of Activism Campaign that focuses on prevention of gender-based violence. Organise a group walk, wear orange and share a photo from your walk using #WAFV2021, #WhyWeWalk and #WAFV hashtags on social media.

This route follows footpaths running alongside Skeleton Creek and the conservation reserve with two flat bridge crossings, dogs on lead.

Start: Walk along the footpath down Leakes Road until you reach the path near Kondalilla Drive. Turn right and follow the path running alongside the conservation reserve.

Just pass Montezuma Avenue on your right you will come to a bridge crossing the creek, take in views of the creek and reserve on both sides as you cross, listening to the sounds of the local wildlife.

Turn right onto Starling Avenue and follow this along the other side of the creek and reserve.

Keep an eye out for a path just after Peregrine Court on your right with a footbridge crossing over. This will lead back to Leakes Road which you can follow back down to the Tarneit Community Learning Centre.

End your walk by visiting the Library and viewing the 16 days of Activism / Respect Is materials and books. Mention participating in this walk to staff and / or take a photo in front of the campaign stand to upload to social media and receive a free coffee voucher (limited to first 50 walkers).
