Find out more

The walk rated intermediate as it can be a little hard work walking on the soft sand, particularly at high tide, and there are a couple of rocky ledges to climb over along the beach.

If you are after a longer walk, this one connects to the Casuarina walk via the Heathland walk.

There are toilets and seats at end of walk at Bastion Point.

Dogs allowed on lead.

Points of Interest

1. Steps

The start of the walk begins at the steps down to the beach.

2. The beach

As you can see, it starts as a nice wide beach of soft sand.

3. Inlet

A little inlet can be found near the start of the walk.

4. Rocks

The first small rock ledge to climb over.

5. Sand dune slide

Immediately after the rocky ledge we were surprised to find this sand dune that is obviously very popular.

6. Tip Beach

This fishing spot can be accessed by the Tip Beach carpark at the end of Nelsons Drive.

7. Narrow beach

We walked at hightide and there wasn't much beach to walk along.

8. To Bastion Point

Looking to Bastion Point.

9. Rocks

Some more rocks to climb over at Bastion Point.

10. Steps

Some steps to climb up to the Bastion Point boat ramp and car park area.

11. Pier between boat ramps

An interesting spot to watch boats come and go (particularly early morning).

12. Mallacoota Beach

A nice beach for a dip or surf that is patrolled in January.
