Description

One of the must-do walks in the Otway Forest National Park!

The walk is rated difficult as it has a steep descent and climb back up, with some steps. But it shouldn't be a problem for most, and it's definitely worth the effort. Be aware however that the track can also be quite slippery when wet.

The walk starts from the picnic area, located off the Aire Valley Road. The three-kilometre path is a one-hour walk return, and requires reasonable fitness. Allow time to rest at the bottom (at the falls) as it is really quite beautiful (that is why we think it should be an 80 minute walk!)

DOGS NOT ALLOWED
Despite some websites saying dogs on lead are allowed, dogs are not allowed in Beauchamp Falls Reserve and it is managed by Parks Victoria.

Also try the nearby Hopetoun Falls Walk while you are in the area!

Click here for information on the nearby town of Forrest , which is definitely worth a visit.

Points of Interest

1. Beauchamp Falls picnic areas

Wonderful spot for a picnic, either before or after your walk. There are toilets heer too.

2. Start of the wllk

The walk is well signposted and starts at the picnic area.

3. The path

The path is nice, shady and wide at the start, but don't be fooled, it soon gets steep.

4. The trees

Pretty spectacular, but made us wonder how big the trees must have been 200 years ago.

5. Shady ferns

The dappled light through the ferns on a sunny day is quite beautiful and makes the walk worth doing even without the falls!

6. Deppler Creek

Hearing the sounds of the birds and water while walking along the bank of Deppler Creek and is a joy to behold.

7. Boardwalk though the ferns

A lovely boardwalk before the descent to the Falls.

8. Wonky seat

I can't remember exactly where this seat was, but although we didn't sit on it and it has seen better days, its beautiful nonetheless.

9. Steps

There are some steep sets of stairs going down to the falls, but that's the easy part, coming up is a little harder.

10. Falls from the River

There is not a path to the base of the falls but, you can walk over the rocks to get a closer look. Take care the rocks can be slippery.

11. From the viewing platform

Walk up the steps to the platform for a fantastic view of the falls.

12. Look up

Don't forget to look up through the trees, particularly if it is a blue sky day.

13. Boardwalk

Another photo of the boardwalk, because its so nice.
