A turn off from the Murray Valley Highway and a brief drive up a dirt road through pine forest takes you to some remarkable views of the Australian Alps. When snow clad in winter and early spring they look particularly stunning.
The lookout sits atop a crest overlooking the valleys below. It has a direction finder cairn at its peak for identifying the mountains you observe.
The crest accommodates a pretty block of native bush amongst the pines. The nearby picnic shelter is down a wide dirt track that passes a drop toilet en route. The shelter has a picnic table and fireplace inside. Cars may also use the dirt track.
There is plenty of parking either at the cairn or toilets.

The dirt track can be used to walk to the shelter and back. You may also choose to park at the cleared crest of the lookout itself.
The Lawrence Lookout cairn is marked with arrowed indicators to the various mountains in view.
The view is a beauty!

Considering that the colder months are the ones that offer snow capped views, a picnic with a warming fire makes for an attractive proposition.
