This scenic Central Goldfields lakeside loop is worth stopping for. Excellent facilities make the pleasant short walk even more attractive. There is something for everyone here.
Lake Victoria is a charming ornamental lake in Maryborough’s very well-appointed Princes Park. The tree clad islands and grassy lawns create a serene atmosphere that everyone can appreciate. It is also a great place for play, picnics and BBQs.
The loop walking track is of firm, smooth and wide compacted gravel. It follows the shoreline before returning to the well featured playground and picnic facilities. The Maryborough business district is only a short distance away if you need supplies. On hot days you can cool off in the public swimming pool right next door.
Take a moment to sit on a seat by the lake and observe the resident birdlife, including graceful Black Swans. There are fish in the lake for those who like to take up a space on the banks for longer periods. Occasional signs describe wildlife you might see or hear.
There are a number of shade trees and built shelters. Otherwise, much of the area is exposed to the weather. Bins and public toilets (including accessible) are provided.
The walk also passes historic sporting facilities including the football oval grandstand, other courts, ovals and Maryborough Caravan Park.
Dogs are welcome on a leash.
Bus No. 2 stops on Park Road beside Princes Park.
There is ample car parking near the lake including accessible spaces with ramps through kerbing.

There are broad lawns for picnics or shelters with picnic tables, free and accessible BBQs.
The playground provides plenty of fun for the kids. There is also an outdoor gym and accessible drinking water fountain.
