Find out more

From the overflow car park walk towards the playground area where you will see the walking track start.

The Stonyford Creek area consists of remnant native vegetation, ranging from typical riparian to a drier open forest vegetation type. Dominant species within this area include peppermint and messmate eucalypts, grey gums, wattles, banksias and native grasses. A variety of fern species are also common along the creek . *

** Dogs are permitted on-lead in the park but there are no off-leash areas.

Points of Interest

1. Lower car park

With plenty of car spaces, this is a great place to begin the walk

2. Dogs are permitted on-leash in the park

Several signs indicate that dogs are allowed in the park, but should be kept on-lead.

3. Bridge over Stonyford Creek

A small bridge that crosses Stonyford Creek. With the current rainfall, the creek is quite full.

4. Forest Canopy

The fallen Messmate still provides an important habitat for native animal species. The inner bark of this tree was used by the Aboriginal People to make string bags and fishing nets

5. Old Picnic Area

This area used to be a main picnic ground at Silvan Reservoir. It can still be used for picnics.

6. Feel the Forest

This is a great place to stop and listen to all the wonderful sounds of the forest.

7. New picnic area

The walking path comes back out at the newer picnic area at Silvan Reservoir. It has plenty of space for you to spread a picnic rug!

8. Playground

There is nice playground here with lots of equipment for energetic children.

9. Stairway

Beautiful stone stairs take you to the top car park and lookout

10. Toilets

There are some toilets located here.

11. Lookout over reservoir

You can see the water and look down to the bottom car park from here. There are also a few signs with interesting information about the reservoir.
