The Freestone Creek area offers a variety of walks, which are an excellent way to discover the many natural and historical wonders of the surrounding forest.
This walk commences at the Blue Pool carpark and, although only 3kms, it can take up to two hours return.
The lookout takes its name from the Peregrine Falcons that nest nearby from September to December each year. The track winds its way up the ridge through dry open forest made up predominantly of red box, stringybark and ironbark.
A mine and chimney ruin along the way are reminders of the areas gold mining past. You may continue along this track all the way to McKinnon’s Point and return via the Freestone walking track past the Gladstone Creek and the Froam Picnic area.
Please contact Department of Environment and Primary Industries for more information on maps and directions. Further information from a local office should be sought before embarking on any of the walks.
