A picturesque walk located 6kms south of Daylesford. Take the fabulous new Parks Victoria stairs down to the creek trail, falls and mineral springs where this lovely forested loop walk begins.
While the loop track is relatively short you may want to stop and pump some mineral water along the way! This is a great walk to do at any time of year, although it can be slippery in parts when wet because much of the track is unsealed.
History buffs may want to head in an anti-clockwise direction where one of the first points of interest is Sailors Falls and a plaque describing how locals enjoyed the area a century ago.
Dogs may accompany you on this walk but must be on-lead!
Toilet facilities (rather rudimentary) are located in the car park at the top of the stairs.
Check signage at spring as at some times of the year the water is not recommended for drinking, and authorities will advise.
While the short loop route we took is just 1.35km, there are track offshoots indicated by signage if you want to do a longer or shorter walk at Sailors Falls. Stick to clear, obvious tracks (avoid overgrowth) and follow signs.

Parks Victoria built this spectacular new staircase in recognition of Sailors Falls as a popular destination in 2017. You'll have plenty of time to appreciate them as you descend!
The traditional owners of the land here are the Dja Dja Wurrung people. Gold was discovered in this area in 1851 and with it came a boom in population. Sailors Falls was a popular spot for picnics.

You can bring your four-legged friend along on this lovely walk, provided you keep them on a leash at all times.
While this is a gentle walk, quite do-able for young people, take care as the track is mostly unsealed and can get slippery during wet times! Thanks to this family for allowing us to take their photo!
Great signage makes it easy to stick to the short loop but check out information in the picnic area for longer walks to Twin Bridges or to Daylesford.

There are two mineral spring taps on this walk - at the start in the picnic / car park area and approximately here. Check for signage as sometimes rainwater run-off causes contamination.
There are toilets located by the roadside near the car park for Sailors Falls. They are not wheelchair accessible.
