This expansive, farm-like reserve is completely leash free and has something for everyone – a dam, BBQ area, pump track and wildlife spotting!
Welcome to the Hillview Community Reserve in Dromana on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula.
This reserve has a farm-like feel, being surrounded on both sides by cattle and backing onto National Park.
It's the perfect spot for the whole family; there's wildlife including bountiful birdlife and the occasional kangaroo, plus a dam, barbecue and picnic area, large pump track for adrenaline junkies and glimpses of the Dromana bay.
This walk is of a substantial size and can be tailored as you wish – as long or short as you please with many different paths through it. Additionally, there are large grassed areas separating the main attractions, with the pump track about 150m left of the car park and in the opposite direction to the BBQ and picnic area which overlooks the dam to the right of the car park.
Your furry friends can be off-leash in all parts of this walk, just make sure that if you see any wildlife, such as the ducks (which frequent the dam) or kangaroos, that your canine friends do not disturb them.
Be sure to look up as you walk around the track and take in the bay views and wave hello to the curious cattle on each side of this reserve!
Notes:
-Watch out for snakes in the summer seasons in the long grass.
-Remember this is a shared reserve and therefore watch out for bicycles, skateboards, dogs and families walking on the track.
-The reserve is leash-free at all times during the year.
-There is no swimming in the dam, with the exception of dogs.
-Remember if you wish to make this walk longer, it backs onto the National Park which has sign-posted tracks to Arthurs Seat (** NOTE that DOGS are not allowed in National Parks on the Mornington Peninsula, so if you have a dog do not leave the Hillview Reserve) .
-If you forget to pack a picnic lunch, this reserve is opposite an array of small shops, including a couple of cafes.

If you dogs love the water as much as mine (at least one of them!) does, then this will be their favourite part of the walk! Just remember to respect the local wildlife who frequently swim here.
As you can see, this reserve is a peaceful, rustic paradise!
This reserve makes you feel like you're in the country, however, remember to look up at the bay views right in front of you!
This concrete pump track is for the use of bicycles, scooters and skateboards and is stressed that users ensure to take safety precautions such as wear helmets.
...and when the pump track is completely empty of bikes and scooters the dogs put it to good use!
There are many large open grassed areas that give your dog(s) a good run!
Feel free to stop here for some lunch or just take a rest (there is a water fountain and dog bowl here too).
