Summary

Description

Start at the lighthouse in Point Lonsdale and walk 5km along the beautiful bay beach at low tide all the way to the other lighthouse at Queenscliff!

If you're not up for the whole walk, or it is high-tide - you can start at Point Lonsdale and take the walking path just up from the sand. This path extends about half-way to Queenscliff.

For dog owners, please observe seasonal regulations for when dogs are allowed on beaches .

Dogs must always be on-leash except for the off-leash beach (see above link) which is at about the halfway point between Pt Lonsdale and Queenscliff.

1. Point Lonsdale Lighthouse

Begin your walk at this stunning lighthouse, just up the path from the car park (or playground area opposite the Point Lonsdale shops). Photo: Richelle Olsen (whose father worked at the lighthouse).

2. Point Lonsdale jetty

Walk a fraction further by making your way out along the historic jetty. (Or abandon your walk and have beach time!) Photo: Jude Grant.

3. Sea wall, looking south

These beaches virtually disappear at high tide, so you may find the sealed walking path handy.

4. Dog beach (off-leash allowed)

Dogs are permitted at Narrows beach, which you'll find at the end of Roddick Grove.
