Lillydale Lake is open at all times and has many facilities and activities to suit everyone, including a playground, walking tracks, fishing jetties, BBQ, picnic shelters, and public toilets.

Description

Lillydale Lake has retained its name from the original shire of Lillydale (spelled with an extra 'l'). It is an artificial lake and wetlands area. The Lillydale Lake park covers over 100 hectares and contains many different walks.

The most common walk is around the main lake, which is roughly 3 km. Construction of the lake was proposed to prevent future flooding of the Olinda Creek (which was often susceptible to flooding). Construction began in 1988 and was completed in and opened on June 7th 1990. The trail is a circuit. The Lake is a very popular place to exercise.

Lillydale Lake is open at all times and has a range of facilities and activities to suit everyone. Enjoy a picnic or barbecue, walk around the 28 hectare lake, or watch your children enjoy the all abilities playground. Entry is free.

There are 10 kilometres of shared trail at the park, perfect for walking or bike riding. Fishing is permitted at the lake.

The playspace has something for everyone including children and adults.

Features include: splash pad with water activities for all ages; sensory creek bed with mushrooms; platypus and wood duck climbing sculptures; giant basket swing; expression swing; double flying fox; spinning carousel.

The park also has bathrooms for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, as well as spinal injuries, spina bifida, motor neuron disease, multiple sclerosis or acquired brain injury. It includes: accessible toilet; automated changing bed; automated ceiling hoist.

Dogs are welcome with two designated dog off-lead areas. Dogs must be on a lead in all other areas of the park.

8. Cashins Mill

Built in the early 1850s by Hugh Kneen of Fitzroy. After James Cashin Snr died in 1873, the mill was operated by sons James and William.

First Sunday of the month - 8am to 1pm. Bellbird Park (next to Lillydale Lake), Swansea Road, Lilydale.
