This gentle walk around the north end of the petite Churchill Island combines beautiful views over Western Port Bay, an historic farm and native, forested areas.

On Churchill Island, you'll not only spot a family of Highland Cows, but enjoy several gentle walking options.
Churchill Island also hosts Parkrun events, plus a monthy Farmer's Market.

Even if you're staying elsewhere on Phillip Island, Churchill Island (located close to the bridge to the mainland) is well worth a visit. You can pay to enter and tour the historic farm, and/or do this walk (which is free).

Begin from the car park and do the North Point loop walk following the trail and signs. You can also do a longer loop - the Churchill Island Loop (still an easy stroll) around the island. A third option is the Wadjil’garook Wetland, walk where you can learn about Indigenous culture and wetland birds.

You may also wish to invest in a visit to the farm, to explore the heritage and tranquil scenery of Churchill Island’s extensive historic farm grounds and beautiful gardens.

Churchill Island was the site of the first farm in Victoria and its pioneering history is still evident today in the restored 1850s homestead, original cottages and beautiful heritage gardens and orchards.

There are some PUBLIC TOILETS located in the entry area of the Visitor Centre / Cafe.

If entering Churchill Island by car, please note the slow speed limit (to protect walkers and wildlife) and be aware there is a one-lane bridge (controlled by a traffic light).

Points of Interest

1. Start North Point loop walk

From the car park, head in a north-east direction to find the start of the walk track (through these gates!)

2. Views over Western Port Bay

Beyond the small dam you'll see lovely views across the bay.

3. Western Port Bay

Learn about the bay - its ecology and environmental significance.

4. North Point

Take in the scenery and / or take a break on seating provided here.

5. Observation Point and forest

This section of the walk is home to an ancient Moonah Forest - plus the possible site of one of Victoria's first documented European buildings.

6. Farm life

You may see some sheep and horses resting up in these paddocks.

7. Sheoke Grove

Head back through this lovely Sheoke Grove toward the Visitor Centre, Cafe and car park.
