Description

This walk takes you from the peaceful and beautiful block of land where Dunkeld Delights is situated. You will walk past and around the famous wall of Dunkeld. Past breathtaking views and red gums. The dirt Rd of Taylors street leads you to the arboretum where there are many trees to see and a few bodies of water where birdlife is in abundance. Take a slow walk around the arboretum taking in nature and some of the best views of the Grampians with Mt Sturgeon and Mt Abrupt in the background. This walk will also take you past many of the towns Accommodation places so take note s you go past these places as possibly your next stay in Dunkeld. Once you have return to the main Rd leading to Williams Street, go down the main Rd past the olive grove, you can either take the small path down the hill before the bridge which will take you on a scenic path following salt creek along, then you will come to an area of oak trees and a seating area with some mosaics on the ground and sculptures through the bush track keep following this path around over bridges to you reach the end of Adams street continue along here cross the small bit of land and over the creek. You will have to step on a few rocks as you go over the creek, then it is up, what us locals have called it for a long time Billy Cart Hill. It is a very steep hill that can sometimes be slippery so watch your step. Then continue back down MacArthur street past the wall again and back to Dunkeld Delights for some refreshments.

1. Aboretum

The Aboretum was planted out with many trees from all parts of the world there is a lot of birdlife, go past the old saw mill and also a labyrinth was built here, it is also near the old saw mill.

2. Dunkeld Delights Cafe/tea room

Dunkeld Delights is a family business that produces quality handcrafted biscuits, slices and cakes. This cake/coffee shop is situated in the heart of town close to accommodation places in Dunkeld.

3. Path leading to Salt creek

This point is where the path leads you off the main walk and takes you along Salt creek to the mosaics and sculptures. This is where the wallabies hang out. This path is also full of native tree's

4. The wall

This is a property in Dunkeld that is surrounded by a Grampians sandstone wall. If you go up close you can see some fossils in the stone.
