Catch a train to Newport railway station on the Williamstown or Werribee lines. Turn left in the subway then right to get you to the Hall St shops. Follow the shops to the top of North Road and continue to the bottom. You will come to a set of traffic lights with the 'Pint of Milk' Cafe on the right corner and Newport Park on the left corner as you head down towards the Yarra River. You can choose to walk through Newport Park past the athletics track or continue down North Road and turn left along The Strand just past South Pacific Health Centre (formerly Lifestyle Fitness Centre) on the corner. Continue on the Williamstown Foreshore Trail along the Yarra River past Newport Power Station, the HMAS Yarra Memorial and through Riverside Park. You may get to see a container ship glide by. The path winds its way to under the West Gate Bridge and the West Gate Bridge Memorial Park. A bit further along is the Stoney Creek Backwash. To return go up Simcock Avenue and turn left into Hall Street. Spotswood railway station is not far along.
