Summary

Walk mainly along shared pedestrian and bike paths, past outdoor activity areas and tourist attractions, and through pleasant residential areas.

Description

This walk is mostly accessible to all ages, capabilities, and it is visually stimulating; there is always something entertaining to look at. The walk travels past the Bendigo Creek, contains many different types of trees and plants, and connects with other walking and cycling paths. Regular seating is provided only around attractions such as the Bendigo Bank Tennis Complex and Lake Weeroona. The walk also travels through residential areas consisting mainly of historical weatherboard housing. Houses are built close to the footpath, giving you a sense of safety - that you are not alone. Most of the walk is on sealed paths, and is wheelchair, pram, child and young adult friendly. Lake Weeroona has a children?s gated playground, suitable for children up to the ages of twelve. Various ducks, birds, and turtles inhabit the area, and people regularly walk their dogs around the lake. There is however, limited pedestrian and bicycle access to Lake Weeroona over busy main roads, such as Napier and Nolan Streets. This would be hazardous for those who are disabled, in wheelchairs, pushing prams, and children.
