Summary

A casual amble around some interesting geological and historical formations. Pink Cliffs Geological Reserve boasts colourful mounds among Yellow Box Eucalypts.

Description

This walk is a casual explore around the geological reserve as the paths branch off in a few different directions, creating a variety of circuits close to the mounds and through the surrounding bush.

This interesting geological phenomenon is the remnants of early gold mining activities in the area. There is a rich history here, which is told through many information plaques along the walk.

The paths are sign-posted, however there are also many tracks around, possibly made by regular foot traffic from others exploring, so try to keep an eye on where you are heading so as not to go off track.

The cliffs themselves are fenced off a little, to stop erosion, however, you can get pretty close and there are multiple entry points to get a good view of all the valleys and crevices.

There are no amenities on site, however, the reserve is only a short drive from Heathcote, where there are cafes and public toilets.

** Dogs**
Pink Cliffs Geological Reserve is managed by Parks Victoria. There are aspects of the park that are considered to be sensitive.
Dogs are permitted in some areas (but must be kept on lead at all times) so please refer to Parks Victoria signage on site.
