Long Gully is only minutes from the heart of Bendigo.
The area has a strong mining history and had the highest concentration of quartz mines in the State of Victoria. Long Gully is known for the rich reefs of gold that were mined from 1856 to 1949.
The area was home to a large Cornish community who came to the area to mine the rich underground reefs and whose legacy is still evident in the various miners cottages that remain a highlight of the area.
St Matthew’s Church offers a Toy Library and Playgroup plus other programs that support young people and older residents to put food on their table and connect to others. Volunteers working in the community garden add to the People’s Pantry food program.
Just across the road you will find the Long Gully Post Office and Coffee Shop so why not drop in, pick-up some stamps and meet your neighbours for a coffee.
