This is a lovely walk to do with the kids. Our route takes in a giant snake (of the artistic variety!), wetlands, the surf beach, a national park and a ship wreck. Look closely to see if you can also spot some repurposed train track pieces along the way.
The walk is a loop so you can start at any point. Most of the roads have on street parking and there's an off street car park at the Surf Life Saving Club, but this fills up quickly during summer.

This colourful sculpture is lots of fun for climbing and playing. Take a close look at the eyes while you're there. It was a collaboration between Council, the developer and local students.
The kids were excited to discover old rail spikes, base plates and sleepers incorporated into a landscaped garden.
Listen for birds and frogs as you walk around the edge of the wetland.
A convenient walking path through to Surf Parade.
From the surf beach, you can look across to the west to see Eagle's Nest jutting out of the water. Discover the wider National Park plants and animals by exploring rockpools or snorkelling.
The Amazon ran aground in 1863. During low tide parts of the wreck can be seen sticking out of the sand. Remember that shipwrecks are protected so you should not touch anything and take only photos.
A nice place for swimming, building sand castles, beach cricket or simply enjoying a good book. Toilets and a kiosk are available at the Life Saving Club. The beach is patrolled most of summer.
