Nyerimilang Heritage Park is located 10km from Lakes Entrance in East Gippsland. There are five formal bush walking tracks at Nyerimilang, and our route combines three of them to create a circuit; the Cliff Top track, then the Salt Marsh track and returning via the Homestead Track.

We did the walk early in the morning and it was extremely peaceful, and we got a wonderful view of Pelicans and other species from the bird hides at the walk's halfway point. Pack some binoculars if you are really keen!
Please note entry is by donation. The homestead, gift shop and information centre are open when “Friends of Nyerimilang” have volunteers available.
DOGS are only permitted within the boundaries of the homestead (on-lead only). They are NOT permitted on this walk, which mostly goes beyond these boundaries.

There are lots of lovely spots to sit and enjoy the tranquility. You will find some toilets just to the south west of this point.
You'll pass by the grand homestead and its rose garden on your way to the tracks, but perhaps hit the trails before they get busy.
Take a right toward the lookout over Reeves Channel and enjoy the view once there.
You'll get a great view from this spot and here is a map of the park's five main walking tracks to help orient yourself. See the link for more information about the tracks.
You'll skirt the water as you make your way along a lovely track in the homestead grounds to arrive at the farm cottage and buildings.
Soon after the farm buildings you'll see this sign marking the end of the Homestead grounds. Dogs are not permitted beyond this point, even on-lead.
For a shorter walk you could turn left here, but we forged ahead!
You'll find as you near the bend that the track becomes less muddy and more sandy. We thought this was a beautiful part of the walk.
At this point you can either take a short detour down to a bird hide, or turn right to take a longer offshoot to waterside Reeve Channel, or continue along the main track. We did all three!
This is a great peaceful little spot to check out Pelicans and other species. We saw more birds at this hide, but the #2 hide is in better nick.
We decided to check out this optional sidetrack to Reeve Channel. It's an extra 300 metres each way.
A solitary little clearing, with some nice views over the water and a small jetty.
What will you see from this little hide off the Salt Marsh Track? Be still and quiet and pick the right time of day. Did you pack any binoculars?
Begin heading inland. A little further along you'll see the other end of the Kurrajong Track and some way further a track off to the right (Whistling Kite Track) if you wish to explore further.
You pass through a farm gate then keep heading straight. Pass Botanic Drive (you can explore some wetlands and nice plantings in here) to arrive here by the old stock pen.
The homestead was not open on our early morning visit but got a lovely view from the deep balcony and had a peek through the windows. For more information about its history see the link.
