Summary

Throughout the walk, shops, parks and nature were sighted which provided relaxation for the walkers. The walk was easy, accessible and short with it only being 0.92km or 14 minutes.

Description

The walk from Glengala Rd to Sunshine Market/The Post Office provided mostly easy walkability. According to Google Maps, the walk took 14 minutes (0.92km) which is a moderately short time. The walk was pleasant and provided nature and art. Throughout the walk, many factors that make a good walk were taken in consideration.

The walk starts at the front of Marian College and heads towards the left of it. It can be noted that the path went the whole way with no missing sections, but it was not wide. People with wheelchairs or prams may find it hard to navigate through. There were a few rubbish littered.

After a few minutes, the students arrived at the dog park. It provided aesthetics for the walk due to its nature. It also had signs to indicate that it was a dog park, although some signs had words only and no symbols, which may make it hard for people who do not know the language well. There was also a bike path, but the symbols on the concrete were faded out, which makes it hard for it to be distinct.

Once the students arrived at the Coin Laundry, its layout was taken into consideration. Benches for seating were placed next to bins and were close to the road, which is not suitable for eating and young children.

After walking a bit more without any points of interest, the students arrived at a market place. A kindergarten, arts and shops could be seen, which contributes to the aesthetics of the walk.

Although the walk was great, it could be improved. In addition to the statements above, some bus stops did not have the tactile paving, which will cause a problem for blind people as they will not know where the bus stops are. There were closely parked cars near the coin laundry and some trees obscured the way, which can be a hazard due to bumping, some signs were bent and faded, there were no toilets, there was no island in big pedestrian crossings, there was not enough street lights to provide a sense of safety at night, some fences were not useful due to it being a useless design, there were a few tripping hazards, such as the uneven level of the footpath and the grass next to it and there were a few weeds and foul smells which decreased the aesthetics of the walk, but overall, it was a walk that provided a fun time.
