This 2.5 km walk (5 km return) is a great place to exercise, catch a sea breeze and enjoy bay views. Wyndham Bay Trail is a wide, sealed path stretching from the ultra-modern Wyndham Harbour to charming Werribee South Foreshore Beach. If you are doing a return walk (5 km), allow some time to soak up the beachside vibes before heading back.
Werribee South foreshore has a sleepy, fishing village feel and it is utterly charming! The Werribee River mouth joins Port Phillip Bay here and the area is teaming with birdlife. On the opposite bank is the Werribee treatment plant, a haven for birdlife, sometimes known as the Kakadu of the south. We saw cormorants, spoonbills, oystercatchers and pelicans, to name a few.
The old jetty and new boat pontoons are a lovely place to sit and watch the river, boats and birds.
Toilets are available at the start and finish of this walk.
Thank you to Wyndham City Council and Werribee River Association for contributing photographs for this walk.

A nice place to take your shoes off and wade in the water. Swimmers beware of boat traffic, strong currents and deep patches.
The old jetty is rickety, so if you walk on it, watch your step.
The jetty and boat ramp allow for journeys up river or out to the bay.
