Find out more

Lillydale Lake is exceptionally popular with over 600,000 visits per year, and sits within 28 hectares of beautiful, wide open space.

The 2.5km trail around the Lake is a wide, gravel surface that is suitable for walkers, cyclists, motorised wheelchairs and prams. There are lots of interesting things to see on your walk. The park itself is very picturesque, but you can also enjoy seeing the indigenous plants in the lake helping to clean the water, lots of birdlife and some historical features like Cashin's Flour Mill.

Heading clockwise on the trail from the carpark, take a detour down Patterson St towards the Hull Rd Wetlands.

Follow your way along Bellbird Drive and enter the Wetlands reserve via the first entrance.

Make your way around the Wetlands following the trail. Cross several small wooden bridges and enjoy the peace among the gumtrees and birdsong. The route around Hull Rd is around 1.4km long and the trail is flat and gravelled.

Exit the Wetlands back onto Bellbird Drive. You can either turn left or right up Bellbird. Both ways lead you back towards Lillydale Lake. There is plenty of signage outside the reserve to guide you on your walk. Following the Carrum to Warburton Trail signs can help you keep on track.

Make your way back onto the Lake route and continue clockwise. Other connections in this part include access to Kinley Estate and the Lilydale Library.

Dogs are welcome at the lake and must be on lead around the lake. As you head along the lake wall, the lake will be to your right and you will see a dedicated dog off-lead area off to your left.

Continue around the lake passing the small beach, fly fishing jetty, outdoor gym equipment and the playground. The playground area is a wonderful addition to the lake. Family friendly, it features a splash pad, swings, slides, a flying fox, plenty of things to climb and a nice big sand play zone.
