From the sheltered Pambula River Mouth Beach with its white sand, red rocks and turquoise water, the Jiguma walking track begins. Steps take you up a mild slope and onto a sandy track through attractive coastal vegetation. The walk undulates as it gently rises to visit various uninterrupted lookout points across the ocean to the distant horizon and down to pristine beaches amongst the water and weather hewn rock formations below.
This is a short return walk, easy for most people. The walking track is firm underfoot when dry. Be mindful of ti tree roots and weather erosion as you go.
Much of the walk has been completed as a Lion's Club Project that includes viewing platforms, short boardwalks and steps installation.
You can start at either end. Either way there are car parks, toilets, picnic tables and drinking water fountains. Pambula Beach adds a sheltered BBQ area, a playground, wide sealed paths and ramps for beach and viewing platform access using mobility aids. The Surf Life Saving Club is also situated at the main beach. If you are looking for refreshments the Caravan Park Cafe is only a short walking distance back from the beach.
Dogs are not permitted on Pambula River Mouth Beach. Dogs are not permitted within 100 metres of flagged patrolled beaches and must otherwise be leashed at all times on Pambula Beach.
