Saltmarsh inundated only by very high tides and is very saline because of evaporation. Many species of plants, including the Beaded Glasswort grow here.
The island is a bird watchers paradise where you might see swans, pelicans, spoon bills, herons and ducks as you meander along Livingstone Island to Estuary Beach.
Parts of the walk were a little overgrown and in need some love when we visited in December 2023.
Dogs are not allowed.

The walk starts at the car park, just follow the signs.
The path was overgrown in part when we visited, particularly near the start.
A stretch of sheltered path provides respite from the wind on windy days.

The boardwalk really is a joy to walk along.
The boardwalk over the saltmarsh that includes Beaded Glasswort. Look out for wallabies and kangaroos around sunset.
A well placed platform enables a good view towards the mouth of the Glenelg.

It is definitely worth the short side trip to the bird hide which provides a highlight of the walk.

Late afternoon and evening is the best time to see kangaroos.
