Points of Interest

1. Facilities

Public facilities such as barbeque areas, picnic spots, toilets, children's playing facilities.

2. Gardens for all occassions

There are several spots in the park that can be used for weddings, birthdays and other special occasions. Prior arrangements have to be done with the Park management before using the facility.

3. The Dam

Building of the Dam in progress, construction started and ended (1920-1927). The dam was built by the Melbourne and Metropolitan board of works.

4. Compass point

The compass is made with Roman numerals starting from point I to VII with a central pole is located adjacent to the valve houses at the bottom of the dam wall.

5. The Lily pond

The compensation channel now used is called the "lily pond", and is a result from scouring which occurred when the valves were opened some time ago.

6. The Dom house

Two domed concrete valve houses are located near the base of the dam wall.

7. Indigenous Heritage

Melbourne's rivers and creeks are important to all members of the community, particularly Aboriginal people.

8. The Rose Steps

The rose steps were constructed in 1927 directly after the dam was opened.
