A good regular walk for the fitness and health enthusiast through iconic Bendigo bushland. Not only that you can climb the tower at the top like Rocky but with better views.

Description

The walk is challenging as it is uphill for approx 3km to the tower. However their are stairs there for additional training with terrific views at the top. Picnic facilities are provided there as well. Follow the same route to get back.

The scenery looks different on the way down which is nice to take your mind off any physical pain that you may or may not be experiencing.

I listed this as challenging as you can make your way through the bush with rough 'goat' tracks to follow to the top. Many of these are observable from the road and you may want to try these once you get sick of the road. However, they aren't signed so pay attention to where you are going. There are also numerous tracks suitable for downhill mountain bike riding of all levels.

There are places along the way which would be excellent to take children to with numerous tracks to walk, ride and explore. Young children wouldn't be able to complete the entire walk/ride however older kids may love it!

There is no footpath so you are forced to walk on the road for the vast majority and some places there is poor visibility. However, traffic volumes on this road are very small so don't let this deter you.

Great, interesting and challenging walk or bike ride for fitness and getting into the bush. Note: the walk is 6km return and will take over an hour to complete depending how long you admire the view.

Fire spotting tower at the top of the hill. Provides great views of Bendigo and surrounding areas.
