We were required to walk around Prospect and take note of any features which helps to make the city walkable.

Description

We traveled to 6 specific locations where we would take notes on what made this area walkable for a certain group of people, e.g. People in Wheelchairs., Elderly People.

Points of Interest

1. St Helens Park

This site includes many aesthetically pleasing aspects such as flowers, trees and playgrounds. It is also a great social meeting point as it has seating to sit and chat and grass areas to kick a ball.

2. Back Streets of Prospect

The back streets are a green and peaceful area to have a calm walk as you are shaded by the trees and you cannot here the traffic. There is also many safety features to keep the pedestrians safe.

3. Prospect Oval

Prospect oval is a great place to go and kick a footy as the oval is open to the public all day every day. There are lots of seats to sit and socialize while watching a game of cricket or football.

4. Rosary and Prospect Primary Schools

Around the schools there's safety crossings monitored before and after school to help students cross the road. There is signage along the schools to inform drivers of the students that are crossing.

5. Coles Supermarket

Coles is in the center of Prospect meaning that it is convenient for all residents of the area. It offers a wide range of products to assist with everyday needs of families, couples and older people.

6. Vine Street Courtyard

This area is a great place to socialize as there is a coffee shop next to it and has many shaded seats. There is chalk for children to use on the pavement and hopscotch that that they can play.

7. BP Service Station

The service station is a place where residents can refill their motor vehicles petrol tanks. Necessary products for day to day living (milk, bread) are also offered there.
