This tour takes in the CBD and some of the less touristy spots in Melbourne, but does let you take some great photos of architecture, people spotting and street art. Personally I think it will take more than an hour because you'll want to take the time to look and take photos, grab a bite or even at one point stop in for a board game in an underground bar. bring your camera and walking shoes.
There are some hills, but no steps (unless you want to)

This is just the start of wandering down Melbournes laneways. This may not show much but has a still largely independent vibe and isn't too commercial in its art.
Looking back up this lane you can get a good shot of the old and new architecture of Melbourne. Your shots may even me better, look for angles and use of light.

Basically, look all around you, look up, look down, look behind things. Look for how the scaffolding or window bars may lead your eye into a good photo. Actually take the time read the scrwals.
As the lines start to blur on what is graffiti and art and unauthorised installations. Keep an eye out for smaller pieces such as this. This artist is Junky
Remember to look for all the shiny little things that attract your eyes. Now this piece may not be here when you get here, but I assure you, something else will be nearby and equally shiny.
Isn't it great that some unit residents take onboard that they can make a small laneway their own, and it doesn't have to be brick walls and harsh angles. A little green appears .
High low, even in the paint chips. This series of lanes is chock full of little surprises. Don't forget to change angles with your camer/phone shoot high & low.
Hope you have a tripod. Set a slow shutter, stand in doorways, get the light and dark, huge murals, post ups, sticker art and if you're really lucky some social /political activism.
Keep walking down, all the way, you won't be disappointed.
Out of the urban space and into some seriously historic parts of Melbourne. This is the legal district with our courts, universities and police (state and federal). So be aware when taking photos :
Once home to all city records, these doors were the only way to bring in and secure all the states documents before digitisation. The building next door unassuming as it is was the olf Forensic Ctr.
Historic building you can walk around and get some wonderful selfies in front of the Mint, steeped in history (look it up), and used in films this building also is home to the Helenic musem.
