1. Woodlands Homestead

View back to Homestead as you join the track from the carpark (on the right of the photo).

2. Moonee Ponds Bike Path

Turn right down the bike path (watching/listening for cyclists scrunching along the gravel) towards Moonee Ponds Creek

3. Sleep like a log?

Creative use of a large dead branch for weary walkers.

4. Moonee Ponds Creek - sometimes

Despite its name, the track comes close to the creek only occasionally, as apparently does water, but an attractive scene anyway.

5. Billabongs according to the maps

But nothing for a jolly swagman to jump into.

6. Viewing Platform

Good panoramic view from distant Melbourne past the airport to the park. This photo again fails to find water in the alleged billabongs

7. Back Paddock Fence

The fence protects the Eastern Barred Bandicoot from introduced predators and competitors - more at the link. Path here goes between this fence and one blocking off the old quarries.

8. Cumberland ruins

View through the Back Paddock Fence of the ruins of the old Cumberland homestead.

The old quarries are blocked off - see a history at the link, but there are good views across them to Tullamarine.

The track crosses Greenvale Creek (see separate walk at the link) just above where it makes its copious contribution to Moonee Ponds Creek.

11. Flight Position tower

Tower which is part of the Tullamarine Airport landing system. Access is via Marker Road from the airport, but it is not accessible to the public

12. Choose your route forward - or back

The park ends here, with the Moonee Ponds Creek track turning left (away from the creek!) and following the southern edge of the fence before turning south back towards the creek- see linked walk.
