Starting at the historic Woodlands Homestead, this walk mainly follows the course of the Moonee Ponds Creek through the Woodlands Historic Park.
Start at the car park to the right as you approach Woodlands Homestaed. From there walk across to the main track heading SE from the Homestead towards the Back Paddock. Turn Left at the second junction, towards Moonee Ponds Creek (labelled a bike track, so beware of lycra). Passing some drieed up billabongs and a good lookout with views across to Tullamarine Airport, continue between the Back Paddock fence and the old quarries. At the southern end of the Park the track joins various airport access roads. You can continue down the Moonee Ponds Creek track eventually coming to the Tarnuk.

View back to Homestead as you join the track from the carpark (on the right of the photo).
Turn right down the bike path (watching/listening for cyclists scrunching along the gravel) towards Moonee Ponds Creek
Creative use of a large dead branch for weary walkers.
Despite its name, the track comes close to the creek only occasionally, as apparently does water, but an attractive scene anyway.
But nothing for a jolly swagman to jump into.
Good panoramic view from distant Melbourne past the airport to the park. This photo again fails to find water in the alleged billabongs
The fence protects the Eastern Barred Bandicoot from introduced predators and competitors - more at the link. Path here goes between this fence and one blocking off the old quarries.
View through the Back Paddock Fence of the ruins of the old Cumberland homestead.
The old quarries are blocked off - see a history at the link, but there are good views across them to Tullamarine.
The track crosses Greenvale Creek (see separate walk at the link) just above where it makes its copious contribution to Moonee Ponds Creek.
Tower which is part of the Tullamarine Airport landing system. Access is via Marker Road from the airport, but it is not accessible to the public
The park ends here, with the Moonee Ponds Creek track turning left (away from the creek!) and following the southern edge of the fence before turning south back towards the creek- see linked walk.
