There are two tracks from Waverley Rd (concrete north of creek, gravel south) and worth trying each. They join here at Blackburn Rd.
It's safest to cross busy Blackburn Road on the footbridge, which has good treetop views.
The wetland is part of the Flood Retarding Basin, explained on signage further down, which helps minimise the property damage caused by sudden flooding.

A short detour over the boardwalk towards Lawrence Rd provides a fine view of the lower wetlands.
The weir controls the flow of water to enable the wetlands to be developed upstream.
From her you can head up to Valley Reserve, where there are several attractive paths (see separate Walk), or continue down Scotchman's Creek Trail though Fairway Reserve and beyond.
