The lower part of the Lookouts walking track takes you to the edge of the plateau above Cudgewa Bluff in Burrowa Pine Mountain National Park via Campbells Lookout. The falls are a joy to ascend and the views are great. The rushing water racing alongside you cascades over rocky platforms, accelerates through chutes and pauses in quieter pools as you pass. A second waterfall greets you at the top.
This is a walk for those steady on their feet and relatively fit. The lower track itself is short, but rocky and uneven. In places it consists of stepped rock stacks wedged into place between boulders. It can also be quite steep. There is an 18 rung ladder to climb to the steel safety barrier of the lookout (which is just below the plateau brim).
Car parking for 4 - 5 cars is provided at the terminus of Bluff Falls Road, a couple of hundred metres below the temporary viewing area at the main drop of Bluff Falls. There is no room for caravans or large vehicles to turn.
Free camping is available lower down the mountain in the Bluff Creek and Blue Gum camping areas. The Bluff Creek Nature Trail section of the walking track up to the falls from these locations was still closed due to bushfire damage at the time of writing.
Be prepared for self reliant walking.
Access further along the Lookouts walking track to Ross Lookout is open for the fit and well prepared walker.
Dogs are not permitted in the National Park.
