This walk is accessible for everyone. It is easy by foot, in a wheelchair or with other mobility aids.
What can I see?
This is a leafy park with green lawns. There are many large shady trees and a small wetland. You can see Mt Dandenong nearby. Sports are played in some parts of the park.
How accessible is the path?
The paths are firm, flat and wide without steps. Some paths have bluestone edges and small tree root rises. There is space for turning wheelchairs. Shorter walks can be chosen. Cars can do pick-ups all around the park. Mobile coverage is good.
Many seats are available with armrests.
Cyclists may share some paths.
Rest areas
Playgrounds, BBQs, roll under picnic tables and bins are provided. Croydon Park is behind Main Street with access to cafes, shops and cinema.
Accessible and bubbler style fountains are provided. Bubbler fountains may not be accessible. Carrying a water bottle is a good idea.
Toilets
An accessible toilet is open 7am to 7pm. Note: it may have graffiti.
Dogs
Dogs must be on leash.
Parking
There are three accessible car parks within the park. One off Hewish Rd beside the grandstand. One off Mt Dandenong Rd. Both provide two accessible spaces with protected side spaces. Surfaces are paved, smooth, wide and flat. There are no kerbs or road crossings.
The accessible spaces behind Main Street are shared with shoppers. They are busier and exposed to more car movement. They are close to dining and shopping.
Public Transport
Croydon railway station or Mt Dandenong Rd buses provide shelter, passenger information and seating. The station is 300 metres away. Walking or rolling from the station requires rail and Main St crossing (pedestrian crossing) and using shopping area footpaths. The alternative is to take a taxi or bus from the station.
The bus stops on routes 688, 690 and 737 have immediate access to the walk.

The shopping car park behind Main St has two accessible spaces. It is the busier of three car parks on site, but has the advantage of direct access to the cafes and shops.
Accessible toilets with a door width of 950mm are provided. They are open 7am to 7pm. There was graffiti inside at the time of writing.
Occasional small rises have been created by tree roots under the path. Note some paths have raised edges.
You can't really get lost within the boundaries of the park, but information signs are still helpful. There are soft green lawns to enjoy.
The accessible car park by the grandstand has two dedicated spaces with protected side access. There is no through traffic.
You can choose to stay on sealed paths, but the compacted paths are also smooth, firm and flat.
Tucked into the swimming pool corner of the park is a playground for kids with BBQ and picnic tables.
Croydon Park provides for many public sports including volleyball, badminton, basketball half court, skate park and permanent outdoor ping pong table. Watch or play, both can be fun.
Accessible car parking off Mt Dandenong Rd offers two spaces with protected side access. There is no through traffic.
The small wetland comes as a pleasant surprise for an urban park. The viewing platform of compacted gravel has ample room for wheelchair turning.
The broad pathways of Croydon Park meander all over the site. There are multiple points for vehicle access to do drop offs or pick-ups.
Routes 688, 690 and 737 provide immediate access to the parkland and pathways. The parkside stop has a shelter. The one opposite does not and is accessed using traffic lights.
This large playground is very popular.
Drinking water fountains are available along the walk on both sides of the park. Not all are wheelchair accessible. Carrying a water bottle is a good idea.
The beautiful shading canopy provided by widespread mature trees is a pleasure.
