Is this walk accessible for me?
This walk is accessible for everyone. It is easy by foot, wheelchair or using other mobility aids.

What can I see?
See the beautiful Werribee Park mansion and gardens. There is a lake with waterbirds. Visit a colony of Grey-headed fruit bats.

How accessible is the path?
There is a map inside the grounds at the start of the walk. Paths are smooth, flat and wide of compacted gravel. The ground beside path edges may be uneven. Puddling can occur after rain.

There is room for side by side travel. Wheelchairs can turn. Shorter routes may be taken. Mobile coverage is good. There are other car parks around the mansion for alternative pickups.

Cyclists may share some paths.

Rest areas
Large trees provide shade. The path is exposed to the weather. Seating without armrests is provided.

The mansion has a restaurant and cafe for refreshments. Drinking water access is limited. Carry a water bottle

BBQs and sheltered picnic tables are available next to the public car park in a grassy area across a gravel road. There are no paths. Tables and BBQs are not roll under.

There is 1 accessible toilet at the car park (180 metres via a gravel road from the accessible parking). It has a concrete ramp. The mansion has 2 accessible toilets, one at ground level and another accessible by ramps.

Dogs
Dogs are not permitted.

Parking
There are 4 accessible off street parking spaces with room for rear loading. The surface is smooth, firm compacted gravel.

Parking is 80 metres from the entry gate. Walking through the car park is not required, there are no kerbs or road crossings. There is a short, mild slope from the car park. The path is compacted gravel.

Public Transport
Bus route 439 (Werribee Railway Station). The stop is 140 metres to the entry gate without kerbs or road crossings. There is only a bus stop sign. Passengers alight beside a gravel road.

There is a taxi rank at Werribee Railway Station.

Points of Interest

1. Car park accessible toilet

This accessible toilet is in the opposite corner to the accessible parking of the large main car park -180 metres away. Access is via a gravel road. It has a ramp. Maybe drop in before you park.

2. BBQs and picnic shelters

The car park BBQs and shelters are the only ones available. The most accessible is the shelter near the accessible toilet due to a gravel path from the ramp. BBQs and other shelters have grass access.

3. Accessible parking

There are 4 accessible spaces in the main car park. They are in the corner closest to the path into the mansion grounds. There are no protected side spaces. There is loading room to the rear.

4. Bus stop

Route 439 to and from Werribee Railway Station. There is no other passenger information, seating or shelter.

5. A short slope

The only slope is a minor, short one on the path out of the car park toward the mansion grounds.

6. Map sign

There is a map and information sign on entry to the mansion grounds. There are few other signs for pointing the way. You can always see the mansion to guide you.

7. Beautiful plants

The mansion garden has many beautiful plants to see. There is something in flower for every season.

8. Flying foxes

A colony of Grey-headed fruit bats (Flying foxes) lives next to the lake. They are very interesting to watch as they hang upside down during the day, chattering and flying about.

9. The lake

This pretty ornamental lake has its own population of resident waterbirds.

10. Water fountain and information sign

Only bubbler fountains and taps for drinking water are in the park - carry a water bottle. There are several informative signs about the park features such as The Grotto. Note: The Grotto has steps.

11. Shadowfax vineyard

You can see the vines that go into the local Shadowfax wine served in the mansion dining rooms.

12. After rain

Paths are generally firm. This short section had evidence of puddling that had dried out after the previous night's rain.

13. The path

The path is smooth, very wide and flat of compacted granitic gravel.

14. Alternative accessible parking

You can arrange for alternative pick ups from either 2 accessible parking spaces behind the mansion (pictured) or those on the river side in the hotel car park.

15. Ground level accessible toilets

The ground level accessible toilet is through double doors and via a short passageway. Door width is 0.8 metres, floor area 1.65x2.15 metres.

16. Restaurant

There is a ramp if you wish to access the restaurant during your visit.

17. Level 1 accessible toilet

There are ramps to access the level 1 accessible toilet under the colonnades behind the cafe. Door 0.77 metres, area 1.9x1.75 metres.

18. Cafe

There is also a cafe. Best to check opening hours.

19. Werribee Park mansion

The mansion is grand from every view. This walk doesn't include entry to it. You can look around the outside. There is a fee if you wish to go inside.

20. Seating

There is some seating along the walk, but not a lot. Keep your eyes open if you want a rest. Seats do not tend to have armrests.
