Start your walk at Lillydale Lake and make your way to the right.
Lillydale Lake is a fantastic, family friendly location. The reserve features a 2.5km flat, accessible, gravel circuit around the lake great for pedestrians, cyclists, prams and motorised wheelchairs. The playground caters to all-abilities and features a Liberty Swing. Non-motorised water sports such as sailing and kayaking are permitted on the lake, and there is plenty of space to run around and enjoy the outdoors.

Exit the reserve via the North Gate exit. Follow the trail towards Hardy St with the skate park on your left and tennis courts to your right.
Cross over Hardy St and make your way through Lions Park towards Main St. At one entrance of Lions Park you can spot some plantings by the 'Gorilla Gardener' and at the other end, take some time to enjoy the mural on the wall called 'The Beautiful Suburban Bubble'.
Cross Main St and make your way past the two sporting ovals. At the back of the ovals you can find a wide concreted path indicating the start of the Warburton and Yarra Valley Rail Trails. It's a lovely little pocket of greenery.
A big map and wayfinding sign showcasing the trails are located at the end of Beresford Rd. For your next visit, cross the road here and start your journey on the Warburton Rail Trail (on the right) and Yarra Valley Rail Trail (on the left).
Head left along Beresford Rd and cross the road to enter Poyner Reserve on the right.
Poyner Reserve is the heart of Art and Sole. At one end you can see the large wayfinding sign and at the other end you can see the Indigenous sculpture Bour-deet.
The wayfinding sign has a map outlining the Art and Sole trails. You can also use the QR code to hear Aunty Doreen share Wurundjeri stories, or also the local history of the region shared by the Lilydale Historical Society.
Bour-deet represents the cumbungi, or bullrush plant and can be seen in the creek next to the sculpture. The cumbungi reeds were used by Indigenous peoples for weaving baskets and fishing nets and the roots were baked for eating.
